DOE 11 EER Single Package Vertical Unit (SPVU) Efficiency Change

Department of Energy (DOE) Federal minimum energy conservation standards level for Single Package Vertical Units (SPVU) air conditioners and heat pumps with a cooling capacity less than 65,000 Btu/h are changing.  

  • Effective September 23, 2019, SPVU equipment manufactured must meet the following minimum efficiencies based upon cooling capacity
    • 65,000 Btu/h or less
      • A/C 11.0 EER
      • H/P 11.0 EER 3.3 COP
         
  • Effective October 9th, 2015, SPVU equipment manufactured must meet the following minimum efficiencies based on cooling capacity
    • >65,000-<135,000 Btu/h
      • A/C 10.0 EER
      • H/P 10.0 EER 3.0 COP
         
  • Effective October 9th, 2016, SPVU equipment manufactured must meet the following minimum efficiencies based on cooling capacity
    • >135,000-<240,000 Btu/h
      • A/C 10.0 EER
      • H/P 10.0 EER 3.0 COP
